Originate Moombahton was created by the American DJ and producer Dave Nada (Dave Villegas) at a school party of his younger nephew in Washington DC in the fall of 2010. What prompted him to produce Moombahton was Afrojack's remix of song Moombah! by Silvio Ecomo & Chuckie. He slowed this song down to the tempo of reggaeton. The final name is an amalgamation of "moombah" and "reggaetón". After this he started to perfect the style and released five tracks in this new style. These came out in March 2010 with the collaboration of DJ Ayres and DJ Tittsworth at T & A Records. Thanks to Major Lazer's hit Watch Out For This, Moombahton also became known to the wider public. |
